What are the navigation buttons and how do they work?

Each lesson contains navigation buttons that are located in the bottom right of the page window.  Depending on the content, one or more of these buttons are available on a page and function as follows:


What are the various types of links?

Links are text that when selected, display additional information or open another window (often an internet site).

Links are identified by the following:


What are user instructions?

Links and other tasks are usually accompanied by text called user instructions. User instructions indicate that you should perform a specific task before proceeding to the next page. These instructions are usually identified by colored text. 

For example: Select each information button for a more detailed description.

The User Instructions displayed on this page are highlighted and ask the user to select a button for more information.


Pop-up Blocker and Information Bar Issues

Please make sure you disable any Pop-up blockers and the Information Bar that you have enabled on your computer when viewing the course. Pop-up blockers will prevent you from viewing relevant information presented within the course.

How to Disable Pop-Up Blockers using the Tools Menu:

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Select Tools
  3. Select Pop-up Blocker
  4. Select Turn Off Pop-up Blocker

How to Disable the Information Bar:

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Select Tools
  3. Select Internet Options
  4. Select the Advanced tab
  5. Select Custom Level
  6. Scroll down until you see the Security List. "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer" box will not be checked.
  7. Check the box next to the "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer"
  8. Select OK

To stop blocking file and software downloads with the Information Bar:

This procedure will allow websites to automatically prompt you when downloading files and software (bypassing the Information Bar).

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. On the Tools menu, select Internet Options
  3. On the Security tab, select Custom Level
  4. Do one or both of the following:
    • To turn off the Information Bar for file downloads, in the Downloads section of the list, under Automatic prompting for file downloads, select Enable.
    • To turn off the Information Bar for ActiveX controls, in the ActiveX controls and plug-ins section of the list, under Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls, select Enable.

How to Disable Pop-Up Blockers using the Security Tab:

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Select Tools
  3. Select Internet Options
  4. Select the Security tab
  5. Select Custom Level
  6. Scroll down until you see ‘Use Pop-up Blocker’
  7. Select Disable
  8. Select OK
