Commercial Lodging
The JTR requires DoD travelers TDY to an Integrated Lodging Program site or surrounding metro area to book DoD Preferred commercial lodging before other commercial lodging options. If DoD Preferred commercial lodging is not available, the Federal Travel Regulation §301-11.11 states that travelers should give first consideration to Government lodging programs such as FedRooms, when available.
DoD Preferred
DTMO partnered with GSA/FedRooms to negotiate commercial lodging in select locations through a third party vendor for rates below per diem that meet established requirements.
To be selected to participate in the Integrated Lodging Program as a DoD Preferred Commercial Lodging property, hotels meet strict quality, safety, and security requirements and offer rates below per diem, as well as, additional traveler protections (no fee for cancellations before 4pm, etc.) and conveniences (free internet, free parking, etc.) at no additional cost.
Other Commercial Lodging Government Programs
FedRooms - A General Services Administration (GSA) lodging program open to federal travelers on official business. FedRooms offers traveler perks and protections including rates at or below per diem, no service, urban destination or resort fees, 4pm day of arrival cancellation in the U.S., no minimum stay requirements, and ability to earn brand loyalty points. FedRooms properties are clearly identified in DTS and DTM. For more information on program benefits, visit http://www.gsa.gov/portal/content/105396 or http://www.fedrooms.com.
Long Term Lodging - If a traveler is to be TDY at one location for more than 30 days, lodging reservations should be made on a weekly, monthly, or other long-term basis if possible. Companies offering long term lodging arrangements under a General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule can be found at http://www.gsa.gov/corporatehousing. These facilities are typically in an apartment or condominium type property and may be furnished with all the amenities of a home. If you need assistance booking these properties, contact your organization's supporting Travel Management Company.
