Explore and Apply

On some screens, you will see an Explore & Apply button. The Explore & Apply content provides access to optional material that is organized on one or more tabs. The first tab is displayed by default. You may access the tabs in any order. The optional material is presented in the form of explanatory content, Guided Simulations, or Try Its. For more information on the Explore & Apply screens, refer to Topic 1, Screen 2 of this class.

Explore & Apply screens may contain interactive elements (selectable bulleted items, highlighted areas, etc.) like any other content screen. The only difference is that the textual information is not testable.

Guided Simulations

A Guided Simulation will show you how to complete a procedure in DTS. The elements of a guided simulation screen are highlighted.

Try It

A Try It is a practice version of the guided simulation. Unlike the guided simulation, there will be no text-instructionsructions to guide you. If you perform a step incorrectly, you will receive feedback stating that your action was incorrect. On the second incorrect try you will be given a hint. Finally, on the third incorrect try the step will be done for you.

Checkpoints

Some Explore and Apply screens may have checkpoints. These are practice activity screens, which consist of different types of activities such as multiple-choice questions, matching activities, or identifying a particular area on a screen shot.

Checkpoint screens contain different types of practice activities. These screens are included to reinforce your learning and are not graded.

In a matching activity, you must match the items listed in the first column with those listed in the second column.

Multiple-choice Questions

Multiple-choice checkpoints are questions with several possible answers. These questions may have one or more correct answers. After selecting your answers, you must select the Submit button.

Hot Spot

Hot Spot checkpoints have questions related to a screen from DTS. To answer the question, you must select the relevant area on the screen shot.
