Travel-Related Coronavirus Information

(updated July 7, 2022)

On January 30, 2020, the World Health Organization determined the rapidly spreading outbreak constituted a Public Health Emergency of International Concern and declared it a global pandemic. Sustained community spread has occurred around the globe since that time. For this reason, the Department of State and The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued travel advisories for affected locations, and the Department of Defense responded by issuing restrictions on travel for its personnel.

DoD Restrictions on Foreign and Domestic Travel

STATUS: On June 29, 2022, the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness issued a memorandum and guidance, “Consolidated Department of Defense Coronavirus Disease 2019 Force Health Protection Guidance – Revision 1” [PDF, 7 pages] which amends the travel testing requirements for Service members, DoD civilian employees, DoD contractor personnel, and DoD family members (see the accompanying guidance [PDF, 57 pages]).
