New Integrated Lodging Program Pilot Sites Added

On January 1, 2017, the Department of Defense will continue its expansion of the Integrated Lodging Program Pilot by adding the following pilot sites:

  • Aberdeen, MD – Aberdeen Proving Grounds
  • Bangor/Bremerton, WA – Naval Base Kitsap
  • Columbus, GA – Fort Benning
  • Everett, WA – Naval Station Everett
  • Lewis-McChord, WA – Joint Base Lewis-McChord
  • Phoenix, AZ – Luke Air Force Base
  • Quantico, VA – Marine Corps Base Quantico
  • San Antonio, TX - Joint Base San Antonio (Lackland AFB, Ft. Sam Houston, Randolph AFB)
  • Seattle, WA  (downtown)
  • Whidbey Island, WA – Naval Air Station Whidbey Island

Travelers creating authorizations on or after 1 January and going TDY to one of the above locations will be directed to use either DoD, Privatized, or DoD Preferred lodging before other accommodations.  If directed lodging is declined, reimbursement for lodging is limited to the amount the government would have paid if used.

Please also be aware that as of 1 January, Saratoga Springs, NY will no longer be a pilot site.  Travelers to this location can still book lodging for this location in DTS, however, DoD Preferred commercial lodging will no longer be available.

In addition to these changes, some of the participating DoD Preferred commercial lodging properties at the existing pilot sites will also change as of 1 January.  Each year hotels have an opportunity to apply to participate in the DoD Preferred Lodging Program Pilot for the next calendar year.  Even those hotels that already participate must reapply annually and compete for DoD's lodging business.  All commercial hotels must meet DoD standards for quality, safety and security, offer rates below per diem, and provide certain amenities and travel protections to participate.

This program ensures that travelers are staying in quality lodging facilities that are close to TDY locations, are protected from certain fees, and are offered amenities at no additional cost, all while staying in rooms that are below per diem.
